Names from Men’s Swimming in Rio

After highlight some of my favorite girls names worn by Rhythmic Gymnasts in the Rio Olympics, how could I not highlight some names for boys?  Here are a few names that stood out to me from the swimming competitions. They all seem so current and trendy, yet they are all outside of the Top 1000 in the US.

Florent – Although this name is French for “flower” it is anything but. This masculine version of Florence comes across strong and dignified. It is inspired by Florent Manaudou of France.

Clement – Chosen after Clement Mignon of France who is featured in the image above, Clement comes from the Latin for “merciful”.  It is a handsome version of the feminized form Clementine which has been made popular due to the seasonal citrus fruits.

Laszlo – This name comes from the Hungarian term meaning “glorious ruler”.  It is worn by Laszlo Cseh of Hungary.

Gregorio – This name means “watchful” in Spanish, and is a wonderful twist on the traditional Gregory.  It is inspired by Gregorio Paltrinieri of Italy.
